What is a gemstone tree? Charming little bonsai trees made from twisting wire and gluing on leaves of semi-precious gemstones.

They are then positioned on a enhancing rock base such as amethyst, agate, or some type of attractive quartz.

My grandmother taught me to make these trees at a very young age. She would cut 12 lengths of wire each about two feet in length. Each wire is folded in half to make a branch by twisting it with small knitting needles.

The completed branches are twisted together to fashion your tree.

These were a lot of fun to make and I cherish the times we spent sitting at her kitchen table making these beautiful little gemstone trees.
